Themes

Initiate: Opportunity, leadership and ideas

The bold initiatives that are shaping our profession. This theme encourages robust discussions on how local, national and world events, politics, research and communities are impacting and shaping emerging practice areas, service provision and intervention techniques of occupational therapy practice. This theme will challenge therapist to be leaders within the health profession, to be proactive and search for opportunity to shape policy, service provision and how occupational therapy can be a leader in shaping a healthier country.

Participate: Practical application of theory/therapy

This theme explores practice; what are we doing and how are we doing it. It encourages sharing of clinical experiences, programs, intervention techniques and skills around how we engage our communities and empower them in their occupations; how are OT’s implementing theories in their practice and what are they finding. This theme will be practical and provide tools that can be implemented in everyday practice.

Achieve: Outcomes, evidence & research

The foundation of this theme is to investigate and challenge our outcomes. It will explore the use of data collection, evidence for practice outcome measures, and research design to ensure that quality occupational therapy practice is being achieved. This will be an opportunity to unveil new research initiatives and celebrate what we are achieving as a profession.
